100 years on
This morning I laid a wreath at the Armistice Day commemoration in Rothesay in the worst of weathers but conducted as ever with great dignity and empathy by Bute’s Parish Minister Owen Jones.
The weather was no better this evening for the WW100 commemoration event in Colintraive and those involved had a hard job to light the beacon at the appointed time.
Whilst it was being lit, however, local children read out, one by one the 40 names on the Glendaruel & Colintraive Roll of Honour and then placed a pebble they had decorated on a small pile which will eventually be added to the memorial cairn in the Glen itself. A glimpse of that is my extra photo .
Despite the rain it was a moving and very rooted event.
