The next generation remembers

The young people definitely to the fore this morning. The Scout and Guide sections of all ages were on parade with their flags and banners at the memorial alongside the British Legion and other adult groups. As I Blipped on Friday, the older children had mounted a display in the churchyard, but this morning I was surprised to see what the younger children had helped with - lining both sides of the path were over 100 painted pebbles. (see extras) Each one showed a poppy, as you would expect, but the surprise was that each one also bore a name from the war memorial . Each name had a pebble - none were forgotten!
All three local schools will gather at the memorial tomorrow for their own tribute - I hope the weather is as kind for them as it was today - beautiful blue sky and sunshine!
