Self con-struct
I have been trying all day (Thursday) to post yesterday's Blip but the news coming from London has been so amazing that I haven't managed to get online. It's now just a few minutes before Mrs May gives a 5:00 pm GMT news conference. Need to act fast before everything collapses and Blip is taken down.
The morning walk was lovely even if only 4°C. Lovely sunshine and it stayed that way all day until the fog rolled in at 4:00 pm and now we are set for very cold but dry weather for a week or more. Nature is crying out for rain.
On 23rd October (Extra photo) I showed the village's new housing estate and reckoned building work wouldn't start until SPring. And then on Monday this week was very surprised to see one plot has been excavated and the first few foundation bits are done. Two days later it looks as though the ground floor is pretty much done. Will try to follow progress.
To the left of the pulley hanging from the crane, you might just see the Stanstead-Memmingen Ryanair plane landing. Bringing fleeing Brits?
I spent most of the day cooking my own goose. Last of the ones we had raised in 2016 and it was one of the two-year-old girls. As she was not the largest and possibly a bit tough, I took the trouble to remove all the bones and carcass and cook the bits individually - big pot of bones to make fond, the breasts with skin left on were cooked slowly in the oven (could/should have pan fried them slowly if I had time) and then all the small bits of meat and all the fat/skin and bits cooked up and separated. Fat may become the basis for wild bird food balls in due course. I didn't add any salt to the cooking process. Managed one breast in the evening and that was good and tender.
Still waiting for May - God Save UK, I fear it may be toll late to serve her goose and UK will roll on down the self destruct bumpy track with the one remaining wheel having lost its retaining nut.
