Double-Four

I'd love to know the story behind these random dominoes and why they ended up in the road on the double yellow lines.

I can't imagine someone threw them away in disgust after losing the game at their local pub - they're huge and certainly wouldn't fit in your pocket! And where's the rest of them? 

Apparently, the name "domino" is most likely from the resemblance to a kind of carnival costume worn during the Venetian Carnival, often consisting of a black-hooded robe and a white mask.
