The Faery Trails
Bury Art Museum and Sculpture Centre is home to The Faery Trails by Lucas Chih-Peng Kao, a multidisciplinary artist who works combines performance, dance and film.
Inspired by the fantasy artwork of Arthur Rackham, the early films of the Lumiere Brothers and responding to the absence of non-white bodies in the history of art, The Faery Trails create a magical site-specific experience reinterpreting traditional western folklore through a globalised lens.
A series of films with local performers and dancers were projected onto random objects; a chair, a cabinet and a Chinese screen, which is where I took this photo. The lady danced so beautifully in the osiris wings and I was really rather taken with the flow of the material and her moves against the stern background of the printed screen. People came and went, but I was completely transfixed by her and stood there for quite a while.

Dance is the hidden language of the soul of the body.
