Life In Wales

Full Moon

What a day I've had today! We phoned the heating engineer's yet again and the ever unfriendly woman who answers the phone advised that they couldn't get the replacement part for our boiler until 10th December as there weren't any available in Belgium!

I phoned our Landlord to tell him, and said that there was no way we could live in the apartment until then without heat or hot water, and asked him what he could do as we would have to move into a hotel.

He said he would come up with a solution and called me back to say that he'd found the part and that the engineer's would be calling me to arrange to come and fix the boiler. Within 10 minutes I received a call from the same lady who would previously only speak French to me, and miraculously she could speak English, was extremely pleasant and said that she now had the part and their engineer could come round this afternoon.

As I was working today, I arranged it for tomorrow morning, but in the meantime, Alan went to the DIY store at lunchtime. He bought a tap, went home and managed to pump water into the radiator in the garage which in turn pressurised the boiler - hey presto, we have heat and hot water! It's very bizarre as the heating specialists said they couldn't even do a temporary repair!

As we were driving home from work, I noticed the moon, so as soon as I got in I went out on the terrace and managed to get this shot. It was difficult to get one 100% clear as there were a lot of clouds, but I'm quite happy with the end result.

Anyway, after a very stressful day, I'm now going to go and have a long hot soak in the bath - it's amazing how you miss these simple things when you haven't got them!
