Alone

Every day this dog and its similar companion get left behind by their owner who just keeps walking while they do their own thing at the beginning of their walk. Some time later they are to be found standing (or sitting) around, looking lost, and eventually the owner - who is out of sight by this point - blows a whistle from somewhere in the distance. In the past, this has then resulted in the dogs running off and being reunited with him.

Lately though I’ve noticed this system isn’t working as well as it used to and, upon the whistle being blown, one of the dogs runs off in the opposite direction to the whistle while the other (pictured) just stands there.  I suspect their hearing is deteriorating and a new arrangement may need to be introduced before they all lose each other permanently!
