Sunday Morning in East Lothian
A very cold morning for the bike ride. In the shady areas, there's a little grass frost, and the roads are just a little icy, not too bad. I head out to Dalkeith, the back road to Cousland. The temperature displayed on the GPS says 1.9degC. There is a little warmth in the autumn sunshine.
Heading east from Cousland, the road has a bit more ice, the road here has not bee gritted. But it is very visible, and is easy to cycle around. Then its the B road up to Humbie, where I pass a few cyclists who have stopped to take some photos. I take mine looking north just as I climb up from Keith Water. Its up and over the hill to Humbie.
From Humbie, I head NE towards Bolton, but turn off at the minor road heading north through Samuelston, Elvinston to Longniddry. Its mostly downhill, and its getting a little warmer as well. On the coast road, I am blown home by the breeze. The whole ride is 73 1/2 km, 45.7mi.
The whole route can be seen at Relive here.
In the afternoon,my partner and I go down to Morningside, walk down to Tollcross, then get afternoon coffee (and cake, I need the calories) Work tomorrow, the weekend ends too quickly.
