Snaggled Trees
These trees are in an empty space near a run off creek in the village. The space is right across the street (a 2-lane fast highway) from the Chenango River. In the past there have been great floods through here and I guess that is what killed the two trees who are growing very near each other. One lost it's top and you see it hanging its head down. No one has taken them out in all this time. I have not been close enough to see if birds or small animal nesting takes place in them either... further investigation.
But during the day today it has gotten colder ( -7C tonight). Intrigued, I am in no hurry to do more with this semi-wild place just sitting there in the backyard of some houses in my neighborhood. Let's wait for a warmer dry day... probably in early June!
The still-standing tree seems 35 ft tree (my estimate) and these are behind and up hill from the Redheaed Hedge of yesterday.
Thanks for all the compliments., by the way
I must invest in some excellent blipper's boots!
