Christmas (Beetles) Are Here Already
For the last three nights we have been dive-bombed by these beetles, attracted by the porch lights. Aussies's call them' Christmas beetles' as that's when they commonly start appearing. The Anoplognathus porosus (members of the Scarab family) also comes in other colours such as brown, black and bronze. The pound coin is there to give an idea of their size.
They are not at all harmful though they are voracious leaf-eaters, particularly attracted to eucalyptus trees.
I think these green ones are like precious stones.
