Birmingham canal

we were told Birmingham has more canals than Venice today. Had to google it but there are more miles of navigable canal here but maybe fewer but longer actual canals.  The surroundings however were more photogenic in Venice. Apart from a small stretch shown here most of the city centre canals are surrounded by modern high rise apartments with very few older buildings left canalised.
