Las Vegas!
Wednesday
Today, we traded Nature’s creation for man’s creations! Tempting as it was to do some more hiking in the spectacular desert scenery, we decided we couldn’t very well visit Las Vegas without visiting the “strip”! Jen had already visited with Jason, so she would have been happy either way, but for us, it had been over 35 years since we had visited Vegas - I don’t think there’s much still standing from that time - except for maybe one or two of the wedding chapels! Before heading to the strip however, we had a look round the botanical gardens. They weren’t very extensive, so it didn’t take too long. We started our exploration of the Strip at Treasure Island, with its pirate ship outside, and continued on past the Venetian, Rome, Paris and others, as far as MGM, New York, and Excalibur with its castle turrets. We returned on the other side, stopping to see the fountain display at Bellagio, the fabulous Chihuly ceiling in the lobby and the amazing seasonal floral display in the Conservatory area. We weren’t exactly the typical Vegas visitor, no gambling, and we just stopped for one drink - I’m afraid they didn’t make much money out of us!
