Wings Of A Dove, Duke Of York, London
The Duke Of York is a very traditional old pub a literal stone's throw from Oxford Street that I often pop into when I'm out for a shop of a lunchtime. This display was their unusual, but rather brilliant Christmas decorations.
Every Friday for years and years I used to meet up with work colleagues for a drink every Friday lunchtime, where we would get together for a chinwag, a laugh and, on bad weeks, a bit of rant (particularly when in full deadline mode) come hell or high water. However, for the past two or three months it has all fallen by the wayside, even when I tried to organise it or encourage them to come out for a drink, even for half an hour. Everyone else stopped making the effort, which saddened me greatly. It was part of the tradition of working together and I still really miss it, as we often work alone in different studios so Fridays were the only days we used to all meet up.
I find sometimes there is only so many times you can try and get people together before it starts to get you down and I've reached that point now. I've taken myself out of the situation because it was affecting me a lot and not in a good way. I think it's their turn to reach out and if they don't want to do so then I will just have to be fine without it - I can always go for a walk with my camera instead!
