Railway Walk
I may have spoken too soon following my exposure to Thursday's wet weather, having gone down with what feels suspiciously like a URTI.
A walk in fresh air was deemed beneficial, and a disused railway line, with no extreme incline, the most suitable. This one runs from Kirkliston to the massive road junction at Newbridge, and back again.
Mud and puddles underfoot, grey sky giving to drizzle and a fine view of the sewage works do not auger well for rapid recuperation but not all was so dull; we encountered a flock of 'something' flitting in and out of a row of poplars, our viewing interrupted by the arrival and departure of a dog walker causing mass exodus. Photos, though poor, indicate them as Redwings. The only colour, apart from haws, was the autumnal leaves of a garden-escaped Hypericum. These appear as extras.
We had been fortified for the walk by coffee and scones at a local church's Craft Day, where we picked up a few stocking-fillers from the array of talented stallholders, and concluded with a quick basic shop in the Co-op before returning to the car.
