Yellow Brain Fungus

Firstly, thank you for all the lovely comments on yesterday's Magical World. You're a lovely bunch.

A fascinating fungi today.
It's mostly found on recently fallen or dead deciduous wood. However it's not a wood rotter itself, but is actually parasitic and feeds on Peniophora fungi such as Rosy Crust fungus.
It adds a much welcome splash of colour to cold wet winter days. It's described as inedible in many guides, but is often used to add texture and colour to traditional Chinese dishes.
According to legend if this fungus appeared on your property it meant a witch had cast a spell on your family, which gives it the other common name of Witches Butter. But I much prefer Brain fungus as that's how it's lobed appearance strikes me.
