Diary of an Edinburgher

Happy Birthday Uncle A!

Bike

An epic day - yes, it was Uncle A's 90th birthday! Quite a low key day, as he wanted no fuss (we hosted a gathering of nieces and nephews for his 80th) - and that's what he got. He had several visitors throughout the day, including my brother and his French wife and her daughter, then my other brother and his wife, and then we popped in with Archie before we took Archie up the hill. Archie pleased Uncle A by rushing along the corridor to meet him, yelping excitedly. He's never done that before. He must have known. We'll take Uncle A out for lunch on Friday.

After that visit, we had a lovely walk up the hill - the sun was just going down and there were looong shadows. We were just back home, had Archie's beard and feet washed and almost dried when our visitors arrived (earlier than expected). My brother and his French wife live in Morocco, so we don’t see them much, but the invitation to visit them is always there...

We like to have a bit more time to get organised, but JR, the professional that she is, pulled it off - tasty nibbles and treats kept coming and the bubbly flowed. All that practice with more leisurely G&T soirées paid off!

Here's to the next ten years, Uncle A. And perhaps a telegram from King Charles...
