What the Dickens!
We have just returned from a great day out at the Grassington Dickensian Festival.
Wonderful sunny day. Infact a bit too sunny as it was difficult to see. Should have taken sun glasses!
Wrapped up well with warm coat, hat, scarf, and gloves as it was quite cold.
Started with morning tea and bacon and mushroom sandwiches, at Buffers Coffee Shop and Model Railway Gallery, Storiths Near Bolton Abbey.
Our friends hadn't been before, and A would have loved to have bought a train set, but his wife put her foot down and said "No"! (He already has one!)
( Oh, and one of the best bacon sandwiches ever!)
Grassington was heaving when we got there, but managed to park not far away down a little lane.
Great atmosphere. Lots of Christmas stalls.
Urban circus,Living statues, Buskers, Penny Plain Theatre Company - Mummers' play,Handbell Ringers, Magic Show, Punch and Judy Show, Hebden Bridge Band,Morris Dancing, and Grassington Players Recitation by Charles Dickens, and more.
About 2pm we had mulled wine and "Mrs Miggins' " Giant Yorkshire Puddings and stew in the Black Horse Pub. Quote "Simply to die for. But we hope not literally." That warmed us all up!
As the day was drawing to a close and the sun setting, a Torchlight Nativity Procession walked round the village, ending up with us all singing carols by the Bandstand, led by the brass band.
A lovely end to the day!
The Festival is also on Saturday 8th December and Saturday 15th December if anyone would like to go.
Sorry I am so behind with comments, but will try to catch up with everyone tomorrow.
Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend!
