Oh Christmas Lettuce!

Every year, about this time, we venture into the garden to pick our Christmas Lettuce.  We always look for a good shape and one that’s not too big.

While I pot it up, Anniemay crawls around the loft looking for the decorations.  Nothing too tacky, just a few baubles and definitely no candles.

Unlike a tree, there’s no waste.  We might pick a few leaves off for Boxing Day lunch - it just depends how many of us there are.  It’ll certainly be gone by 12th Night.

As Rabbie Burns once said, in an early draft of the Selkirk Grace;

Lettuce eat and be thankful.
