Christmas in York.
Zap bus to York.
First the quirky Newgate Coffee Bar for coffee and mince pies.
A walk round the market and down the Shambles, where we saw the most photographed dog in York ( see collage extra)
Bought the best Toulouse sausages ever from Ye Old Pie and Sausage Shoppe.
A wander down Fossgate.
Back to the Shambles for Steak and Ale pie at Earl Grey Tea Rooms. ( a lovely window display see collage)
Then down Petergate ( where I took the main blip photo )
A walk round the Minster Gardens where it was so quite after all the hustle and bustle. Just a little robin serenading us.
A wlak down Stonegate and to the best Christmas Shop ever.
Kathe Wohlfahrt The German company's only shop in the UK.
(See collage top left) Don’t know a word that describes it, but probably breathtaking is the best.
I did buy just one new decoration for the tree.
We could hear a beautiful soprano singing in the distance.
( see extra collage)
We stayed and listened for a while.
After “ In the bleak mid winter “ she started to sing:
“ Time to say goodbye “. I got goose bumps, and my eyes filled with tears.
Sorry but I am an old softy!
Then after a walk by the river, which was almost lapping over onto the riverside walk, it was back to Leeds on the Zap bus.
What a perfect sunny winter’s day.
Extra photo of the other side of the Minster which I nearly put as my main photo.
Christmas Advent Calendar Joke No.10
To all you insomniacs out there.
