Sir Archibald Wollaston White

At out cricket club meeting tonight this pencil drawing had been purchased for viewing in the club. Sir Archibald White is probably one of the most famous of Tickhill cricketers. Around the turn of the 20th century, the White family dominated Tickhill cricket. They were the local gentry and sir Archibald became President. Then out if the blue he was asked to captain Yorkshire County Cricket Club and in 1912 took them to the championship. He brought the winning team to Tickhill to play cricket. It was well documented in my book of the 150 years of Tickhill CC I compiled in 2010.

This excellent pencil drawing was worth a blip.
