Muitas lichias

This has been a short World Bank mission so by early afternoon we were already heading back to Maputo. The group transformed from conservationists and development specialists to fruit buyers as apparently Manica Province is known for its lychees (lichias) Many kilos of them were bundled up for transport back to the capital.

As we landed in Maputo a cute kid stood up beaming, grinning and yelling, 'chegámos' [we arrived]. It was a rare moment of affection for children.

I am technically on leave now but I have some important loose ends to tie up, and I'm holding off celebrating fully until I get properly on my holiday in a few days.

The picture is of a dawn walk in Chimanimani, with Julius, one of the rangers stationed there.
