Anniversary

Today my parents have been married 56 years and it will be their last.

News came that it was time to get to the hospital as mum was fading.

Although very sleepy, she did recognise I was there and took a few small sips of drink, she was comfortable and free from pain which is all we can really ask. She did try a couple of times to say something but it was very difficult to understand her

She was sleeping when we left and the nurses said they'd ring if there was any further decline in the night.

I took dad home and we stayed up looking at their wedding photo's and talking about their life together. Very sad
