Burning the Clocks
Every year on 21st December, there's a huge parade in Brighton to celebrate the winter solstice. People carry lanterns through the streets accompanied by bands and dancers, and they make their way to the beach where the lanterns are all thrown onto a bonfire and then there's a firework display.
I asked mum if sh'e d like to go and she said she'd love to, so we headed into town on the bus. I received a message from Amanda to see if we were going and she asked if she could meet us. We got a good spot to watch and then we went for a drink before heading home. Amanda went to watch the fireworks, but I thought it was a bit much for mum, and to be honest when we saw the crowds of people filling the pavement on Marine Parade, I knew it was the right decision.
The rest of the day was very productive - I had a physio appointment at 8am, then went to the supermarket to pick up the veg for our Christmas Eve dinner, took mum to see Elif at her shop as I had a present for Luca and then did the packing and got everything ready for our trip. Alan finished work at lunch time and by 3.30pm the car was packed and everything was done, completely stress free!
We've got to take the boys to the vets at 8.15am tomorrow to get their passports in order ready for the return journey and then we'll be on our way. So I'll say goodnight and will catch up with you in the morning.
