Flowers on the Solstice

This bromeliad is absolutely the only thing blooming in my how on this, the official beginning of winter today. There are lots of flowers on this plant ready to show off. Years ago I was given a slip from a relative who lives on the subtropical Mississippi coast. Her bush was easily 8 feet by 8 feet. I just keep the offspring trapped in a large pot and bring it inside in winter.
And the weather is incredible too. 60ºF sun with periods of warm rain. The natives are moaning that there will be No Snow for Christmas this year.
