Cara Dillion

Our Christmas concerts were f rounded off by a visit to the Gulbenkian theatre at the University of Canterbury to see Cara Dillon perform with her husband, Sam Lakeman and the Frosty Nights Band. The show was stolen though by her three children who came on stage to sing, dance and play some of the songs.

Her voice is enchanting, usually soft and ephemeral, in the style of Moyà Brennan. A lovely evening.

This afternoon my son Matt and granddaughter Miya came over to exchange presents and spend some time with us. Miya was much taken with the ukulele. It would be nice if she wanted to learn to play.

Gym earlier. Despite all the decadence of last week at the Inn on the Lake we were less than a pound heavier than two weeks ago. It’ll be interesting to see what the scales will say next time we go in January.
