New Year's Day trip to Greenwich, South East London, with a walk across Blackheath Common and through Greenwich Park. As it was very mild for January 1st, we had coffee sitting outside on the terrace of the Maritime Museum.
The annual classic car show 'Park it in the Market' was being held in the old market. It was a lively event with crowds of people, live music, antique and art stalls, and street food. We enjoyed a delicious vegan meal from an Ethiopian/Eritraen food stall.
My blip is of the sun setting over the Thames as we walked back uphill through the park. The view is continually changing as more tower blocks of offices are built in the city. It's amazing how much wealth there is to construct these contemporary edifices while there is no money to eradicate homelessness which sadly is on the increase.
Sir Christopher Wren must be looking down in horror to see his magnificent 17th C Royal Naval College buildings dwarfed by these towers.
My extra is another view of Greenwich from the bank of the Thames.
