Variation on a theme
Blip number 7 of the Ashton Memorial in Williamson Park on New Year's Day but the first one to feature Bailey and the Memorial. It was also the first year that we struggled to get parked and eventually realised that there was a Park Run on. It definitely won't have been an easy 5k with some significant ups, let alone it being the morning after the night before. The sun was shining though and I can't remember a First of January when I haven't needed a hat and gloves. We went up to the Priory to appreciate the view before coming back to a big lunch.
A couple more walks for Bailey, a bit of unpicking and re-sewing and telly watching have made up the rest of the first day of 2019.
The extras are of two of the tercet stones to mark the Lancashire Witches Walk, 400 years since the Pendle Witch trials. Carol Ann Duffy's poem 'The Lancaster Witches' is divided into ten tercets. The first extra is the penultimate verse situated by the Memorial and the second at the gate to the Castle.
