Kandy and Temple of the Tooth
Had a really relaxing day in Kandy, walked around the lake, popped round the veg and clothes market, and had a cool drink in the lovely garden of an eccentric hotel (Helga’s).
In the evening, we went to the Temple of the Tooth and caught a glimpse of the casket that holds one of the Buddha’s teeth (only open for a short time each day). Hectic and full of the sound of drumming and the smell of incense, it was a sight to see. It must be frustrating for the people who went to worship though as the number of tourists (us included) make it much more difficult for them to see what they came for.
The day ended with a drink on a rooftop terrace chatting away with the group. Really enjoyable.
