The Surrey Scholar

Mr DA’s birthday today and we had planned to go to the wildlife centre with our cameras, which would have been third time lucky. However, having set an early alarm and got ready I suddenly remembered it wasn’t open today. D’oh! So we went to Guildford instead and had lunch at Bill’s, followed by a bit of retail therapy. A movie and takeaway this evening (and Madeira cake made with my wonderful new kitchen gadget), and then the diets start tomorrow.

Pictured is The Surrey Scholar - which I was once - by Allan Sly. Apparently the sculpture has been there since 2002 and marked the Queen’s Golden Jubilee and the university’s 35th anniversary. Surprised I haven’t noticed it before, really...
