Gliding on a thermal

The Christmas/New Year fortnight has ended, and those who have had their annual holiday are back at work. The roads were busy again on the way to and from work on my bicycle. Plenty to do in the hospital.

The resident doctors have given notice of strike action next Tuesday and Wednesday. I had arranged leave for the two weeks beginning on Monday, and that will continue as we have sorted out what we need to do to manage without registrars.Actually, the registrars are away from the ward and the community mental health centres on a fairly frequent basis, due to night call, training, and annual (and study) leave.The main difference is that almost all of them will be away at the same time.

A good meeting of the psychiatrists (those few who chose to come) and we talked about some important issues.

The setting sun was obscured by clouds, which produced a dramtic effect, added to by the gulls circling on thermals.
