Takapu over the middle of the bay

S' mother was taken by ambulance to hospital yesterday with a persistent lung infection. A dose of steroids to reduce the inflammation, and one dose of antibiotics given through the drip, and she was ready to return home this morning when we visited her. Lunch with the family was converted to dinner, and we took her north to Snells, and organised lunch for her, and reinstituted the home support (a telephone call to the agency to say she was back already).

I sat in a chair looking out from near the top of the cliff. There were two Takapu (Australasian gannets)cruising above Kawau Bay. One in particular seemed at times to go closer to Kawau Island, before circling back and following a line (probably over a channel) towards Algies' Bay. The other (this one)circled more tightly, and more directly out from the cliff in front of m-i-l's home. Half a dozen tries to get a photo, and this was the best.

Back to Auckland, and preparing for a family meal. (The boys and C have just walked in)
