Train in the heights

I advise to see this photograph of my gallery to understand better

And this photo

In the place of photography is where the sense of circulation of the locomotive is reversed to undertake the return of a wonderful journey

The route of the Train to the Clouds, designed by the American engineer Ricardo Fontaine Maury, is often compared, by its complexity, with the Eiffel Tower and other wonders created by man, which are icons of a place. But the best thing is that this work, unlike the Parisian tower, is enjoyed 14 hours (one way), in a route of 217 kilometers (one way).

It departs every Saturday from the General Belgrano station, in the city of Salta, at 1187 meters above sea level, and ends at the La Polvorilla viaduct, the most anticipated stretch, because it is where the train seems to climb the sky. The characteristics of this viaduct are remarkable: it measures 224 meters long and 70 high, weighs no less than 1600 tons, is curved and without rails.

It is a long-term tour. The train goes through the quiet "puneños  scenaries" (the region through which it transits is known as "Puna"), which are often crossed at 2,500 meters above sea level. With a total of 29 bridges, 21 tunnels, 13 viaducts, 2 channels and 2 zigzags, it runs through 21 stations; Among them, Cerrillos, Campo Quijano, Engineer Maury, Puerta Tastil, Incahuasi and San Antonio de los Cobres.
