Is this the future?

Queues for British customs at the Eurotunnel. Is this a picture of the future? This was a relatively small backlog, but the queues stretched back to the departure hall and a bit of crazy lane jumping as frustrated travellers tried to get a little further ahead by joining a 'faster' lane.
