Oh my

Actual sunshine! What a wonder. I'm sick of the rain and clouds!! This was a real pleasure, this sunset.

Well, tonight starts Viadoom, Carpocalypse, or Carmageddon, depending on which one is more fun to say. I like Viadoom.

Seattle is finally ready to tear down it's famous viaduct that goes along the downtown waterfront. The replacement is a tunnel, which even though it's complete, won't be open for 3 more weeks. Why you ask? Why can't they open the tunnel and then tear down the viaduct? The only thing that I've heard that makes sense is they are worried about people being underground it when they knock down this tremendous structure - might it cause an earthquake??

Anyway, one of the 2 north-south arteries for the city is going away for three weeks so everyone is concerned about how bad the already dreadful traffic is going to get (hence, Viadoom). Lucky us, we will be gone for the second 2 weeks.

Wish all Seattle-ites some good luck in the mean time!

Update - they have to knock the viaduct down first (or at least start) because they can't complete the southern end of the entry to the tunnel until the viaduct is gone.
