The Presidentials

Dear Diary,

I live in the foothills of the White Mountains.  This is part of the Presidential Range. You can read about them here.  You can just see a bit of Mount Washington in the back.  It has some of the worse weather on earth and these mountains are often used by mountaineers to train for climbs to much higher peaks like Everest.  It is rarely as clear as this as it seems to generate it's own weather.  The valley might be in sunshine but the mountains will be covered in clouds.

I am very fortunate to live in such a beautiful place.  My late husband climbed many of these mountains.  I, on the other hand, prefer to appreciate their splendor from afar!  There are an average of 180 rescues a year in the Presidentials and there seems that there is seldom a year without at least one death.  These are dangerous mountains.
