Lost and found
When we first moved here there were several clumps of Algerian Iris in the garden, but they didn't really like our heavy clay soil and gradually dwindled. I moved some to sheltered, sunny positions, but even this didn't really seem to help much and I'd not seen any blooms for several years.
Today I was wandering round the garden, looking at the Snowdrops and Winter Aconites which are just coming into flower, when I spotted this flower, tucked under a bank of rather rampant Winter Jasmine. Such a beautiful bloom, I'm so glad it's still hanging on. I've cleared a little space so that we can see it, and may cut back the surrounding vegetation later in the spring.
