Back to Blipping
For all those eager ones wanting to know how my school trip went up to Jebal Akhdar; it was, sorry to say, absolutely awful. Hiking up a mountain for 6 hours straight was child abuse, I managed to fall down a rocky cliff thing and bruise the back of my leg. I also happened to have extremely swollen hands by the time we got back down again (from the sun).
The sleeping conditions were horrid; my back had endless pains in it for the whole 2 days thanks to sleeping on a crap foam matress. The mosque went off at 5:30 am every morning and it was right next to our sleeping Majalis. Teachers expected us to stay awake to watch the villagers singing to us until 11:30; and then wake up at 6:00 am. No can do.
The only part I really enjoyed was going to the womens home and having goat and rice for dinner with them, (I didn't eat the goat, or watch it being slaughtered). One lady there got married when she was 11 and had her first child when she was 14! She is now 34 and is having her 10th baby! It was a learning experience there...
I'm now going to sign off because I'm going out to City Centre to buy my friend a birthday present!
