Restaurante Lagoa
A good day. I had a 30' sit on the beach in the morning, then we decided to have a wee adventure and took the ferry from Praza Quinze to Niteroi - a 20' crossing. I'd read somewhere that you could have lunch in a big food market nearby, but that plan didn't come to fruition. We did find the market, but it wasn't quite what we expected and no lunch opportunities and it was over 30 degrees and although we both had our sunhats and were wearing sun cream, it was hot!! We took a taxi to a beach area, thinking there would be somewhere there, but no-where serving at 4pm! Beautiful beach and view though - see extra. We commented on how lucky we are where we are in Copacabana with restaurants and cafes open all day, suiting our unplanned hours of eating! We left Niteroi and had a late lunch/early dinner in Bar Lagoa, on the lake side of Ipanema, which is a firm favourite of ours. A wee wander along by the lake afterwards, then home to Copacabana, stopping to buy some food for 15yr old Lucas - see blip a few days ago in which I mentioned him.
My blip today is of our waiter in Bar Lagoa, pointing himself out on the huge, new mural on the wall of the restaurant, which features all the waiters. See my extras for a shot of the mural with some of the waiters and the artists, who were there today....it must have just been hung! The waiters are clearly tickled pink about it! Another extra of the beach in Niteroi - Acarai (?) I think.
Adding a link here to a previous shot in which you can see one of the waiters was 70 and had worked there for 40 years. He's still there and so now 78 years old young:
