Marmalade Making
I have forgotten what a sticky, time-consuming task, making marmalade was. It is several years since I made any and it took all of the morning and most of the afternoon. Today’s main picture shows the finished marmalade and the extra shows the task of peeling and then cutting the rind into shreds. I should have been doing other things, but the oranges and lemons needed to be used today. For these four jars and two small “taster” pots it took one point five kilos of Seville oranges and three lemons. It seemed to take a long time to reach its setting point of 105 degrees Celsius.
Other than that I have not done much else. There was quite a frost this morning and it has been cold, reaching only three degrees Celsius at noon.
