Reindeer's Antlers Spotted in Queensland
Not quite Dasher and Dancer's antlers, but close - this magnificent Stag's Horn Fern (Platycerium superbum) has taken up residence in this big old eucalyptus on one of Maleny's shopping streets.
It's about a metre across and is an epiphyte - meaning it uses the tree for support but not for sustenance, getting its moisture and food from rain and tiny particles of organic material in the air. Amazing how adaptable nature is.
