Dive-Bombed By A Learner-Driver Raven
I was on Maleny's main shoping street today when this bird suddely flew right under my nose from the park over the road, landing on the edge of a front garden. At first I thought it was a Currawong - but their eyes are yellow.
A bit of Googling reveals it's a juvenile Australian Raven Corvus coronoides which might explain why its flying skills left a bit to be desired - it's still learning to fly!
Though its eyes are blue now, when it is fully mature its irises will be white. When full-grown it will measure around 54cms in length - this 'teenager' is an estimated 32cm.
