A Wee Dram
We are in Lincolnshire for our Christmas visit. We were originally coming up at New Year, but Dawn has jury service on January 2nd, so that scuppered that.
We had a bit of a spectacular trip up here. There were plenty of Buzzards alongside the motorway, and a few posing beautifully in the winter sun.
As we left Melton Mowbray we just happened to pass a kestrel as it swooped down on a field mouse. But about ten minutes later it got much, much better! We were in some random bit of the countryside thanks to our SatNav. We came around a corner and there in the setting sun was a red kite hovering above the road. I pulled over, and one red kite was followed by another, and another. Eventually there were about half a dozen. We had stumbled upon a roost site! The camera was in the boot, but I didn't want to break the spell. So we sat and watched the magnificent birds of prey quartering the fields around us. It was magical!
We get to see our newest nephew tomorrow! Dawns dad introduced me to this malt ... We became well acquainted!
