Shadow Tales

This evening, we walked along part of the base of Uluru with a wonderful pair of guides who really brought the spiritual nature of the rock to life with their understanding of the Aboriginal lore and how sacred this big red rock is to these people.  This shot was taken in a shallow cave, as Caroline -- one of the guides -- told us a creation story about a demon dingo. 

Earlier in the day, we hiked into the Wolpa Gorge in Kata Tjuta -- an interesting walk, but grueling in the 112 F heat, to say the least.  I don't think I've ever drunk so much water as I have here!
