Neighborhood Hawk

I am guessing this is a Sharp-Shinned Hawk. If anybody thinks it might be a Cooper's Hawk..let me know. There were so many birds in the back yard and I grabbed the camera and opened the sliding door, when suddenly this hawk made his move for lunch. The birds scattered far and wide and the hawk landed on this branch, high up in the trees, with nothing for his effort. Not the best photo as this one was pretty high up, but this is our very own neighborhood bird of prey.

Then an afternoon with auntie running to our mall. It's definitely getting busier there and the lot was pretty full of cars. JCPenney is giving out little cute Christmas button pin things and then you come home and check out the code on the back to see if you have won something...so far two $5 off coupons and two $10 off coupons. The sales lady at the store said somebody was in there the other day saying that she'd won a trip to see the Ellen Degeneris show in L.A. Well, THAT would be fun.
