The East End
Sometimes it's easy not to notice what is around. I work in the east end of Manchester, once an industrial area with smoke, factories and industry. Most of the major employers have disappeared and the factory sites flattened.
I've still don't get the city. I've gotta say there is an edge and a hardness to it...similar to Glasgow but I don't feel the same warmth. People seem to put a protective barrier round themselves and it takes work to break it down.
One day, I'm gonna take the camera to Moss Side as I love that area though. I swim at Moss Side Leisure Centre on Tuesday's. It's full of slightly scary looking people with big muscles but it also has a feel of community.
Anyway, it was a quiet day....I headed down to Oxford with work. I was hoping to get out in the city to do my blip...but I went for a wee swim and then had dinner with my colleagues.... note to one's self....avoid buying a round at a hotel bar!
