Trinity Bridge over the River Irwell. Designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calitrava (he has designed a number of bridges like this, his previous one was in Seville).

A pedestrian bridge commissioned by Salford City Council and opened in 1995. The intention was to use it to encourage the City Centre across the river, joining Manchester and Salford. And it worked. The Lowry Hotel happened not long after as a result of the investment in the bridge. Infrastructure is often the catalyst for change.
