Today's the day ………………………. to do things differently

Not long after we moved to Dumfries & Galloway, I joined one of the local choirs.  I'd heard them sing at a concert in Kirkcudbright and was very impressed with the way they sang.  There was no written music on show - they were all looking at their conductor and they sang as one.  It was brilliant.  I went along to a 'taster' session the following week, enjoyed it all immensely - and decided that it was just what I had been looking for in a choir.

So now I am a fully-paid up member of the Feral Choir and tonight I was at a practice.  Things are done so differently from what I had always been used to - and although I'm having to work hard,  I'm so enjoying it.

This is the alto part of a song from Georgia.  It's written on a big piece of paper and is on the floor in front of us.  Those horizontal lines show the pattern of the notes - and roughly the length of them.  Ali, the conductor, sings each part in turn.  We listen - and then we try it.  Somehow it works!

If you want to know what it should sound like, there's a version here ……………………...
