The Pier House

Pass the pier
fishing boats huddled against its spine
like mice in a nest,
Forlorn starfish abandoned on the seabed

A very interesting debate on the arty flowers from yesterday - I would say the result was 50:50 - probably most agreeing that the flowers were attractive but in rather an odd position.

Well - I've finally moved from the start of my One Street trail and we have walked passed the yappy dogs enclosed behind a tall fence, passed a spate of bungalows with amazing views and arrived at the pier. Today's focus is on the pretty little house that sits right on the pier, probably once something to do with fishing I imagine. Today it's a very nicely kept and frequently used holiday home. This is the back view - the front actually has uninterrupted views of the sea and it's own little pebbly beach. It's orchard is on the other side of the street, separated when the coast road was built in the 1840s. The pier stretches out a bit further and is mooring to at least four fishing boats and several pleasure boats. It is a working pier and the fishing boats go out everyday in most weathers. The area is littered with lobster pots, rope, fish boxes, a defibrulator and a life buoy. The slipway is also were people throw themselves into the perishing and usually shallow water on Christmas Day. If you biggify you might just see the wispy strands of the Christmas tree put up this weekend. We might take a wander down the pier tomorrow!

I've had a treat today and been working in the big room - so calm and relaxing compared to the smalls! We had to do a run through of the Christmas play, being performed on Thursday night. Er, quite a lot of work still required I'd say. Now I must go and think of something creative to do with the dolly pegs I bought in a moment of enthusiasm a few months ago - tomorrow's excitment.
