WC of academic Kyykkä 2019

Every February more than 4000 students from all over the country form different branch of academic studies gather to Hervanta, Tampere to play this game and to figure out who is the World Champion of Kyykkä.

Kyykkä is a traditional team sport originating from Karelia. The basic idea of the game is to knock kyykkäs (small wooden cylinders) out of your own game-square by throwing a karttu (stick, resembling baseball bat). 

Today both of my kids were taking part to the competition in supporter teams.

I was just visiting to this university campus area as I drove young ones to the game area. Icy streets, awful cold rain, +2c. Absolutely poor weather, but it seemed not to bother students...!

In the evening we were visiting grandparents'. Grandmum had smoked salmon. Excellent!
