Looking Back to Yesterday

Anyone who saw my blip yesterday, will know that I took a photo of Cley Windmill and Cley village from the top of the church tower in Blakeney. Today's blip is taken from the other side of the same windmill. You can just see the church tower on the horizon of today's blip.
We had had a glorious sunny start to the morning and so B and I were hoping to nip along to the windmill with cameras at the end of our study day in Cley Village Hall.  Sadly it was very gloomy by the time we got there, so a fair bit of faffing has taken place in order to make this photo a bit more interesting.

The extra is of reed cutters we passed on the marshes.  Most of the reed used for thatching in the UK these days is imported, despite the fact that Norfolk reed is considered stronger. According to the 'North Norfolk Reedcutters Association', local cutters have to compete with the imported supplies and some have to pay landowners a royalty to harvest the reed. Many reed bed owners qualify for grant aid to manage reed beds. Sadly, some reed beds previously managed to produce reed for thatching are now cut on a longer rotation.
